WHEN FEELING BECOMES FORM
Michael Hafftka is an important American painter whose work is held in the permanent collections of The Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The British Museum, the National Gallery of Art, SFMOMA, the Brooklyn Museum, the Carnegie Museum of Art, and the Library of Congress, among many other significant public and private collections.
In 1986, his work was included in Naked/Nude at MoMA, and throughout his career he has exhibited alongside artists including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Georg Baselitz, Francesco Clemente, Robert Rauschenberg, David Hockney, and Sigmar Polke.
His practice is deeply intuitive he often approaches the canvas without preliminary studies or visual references, allowing each painting to develop through the physical act of painting itselt. The result is work with an incredible sense of immediacy, emotion, and depth.
We’re very excited to bring this exhibition to Los Angeles
